WHY?
Our society is hooked on stuff and it’s destroying our planet. Often without even making our lives better.
Science shows that to avoid ecological meltdown we need a two third reduction in the impact of consumption in just 10 years, starting with rich countries. And yet, even our best examples of sustainable society still show huge and growing consumption emissions.
This is because on their own, better technology and policy can’t green fast enough to keep up, when our mindsets, our cultures and our economic, political, technical and education systems are focused on more stuff.
Material security is hugely important for our wellbeing, and yet for many the engine of production and consumption has gone beyond meeting our needs, to dominating our world and lives, and this isn’t making us happier.
To survive society must change direction right now, and an increasing number of people ready to try something new, to shift the focus from stuff to people and planet.
WHAT?
The JUMP is a lively, positive and visible global citizen movement leading the way to less stuff & more joy.
It all starts today with citizens and communities ‘taking the JUMP’, by trying the 6 Shifts. The science behind the JUMP makes it clear that billions of people living in relative comfort must make these shifts by 2030. Clear and practical. Radical but doable. No more confusion: ‘take The JUMP’ and you can be sure you are playing your part.

The JUMP has a powerful, three-pronged approach to inspiring citizens and communities to ‘take The JUMP’ and undergo real, positive and joyful transformation:
Digital Movement Building
Combining online outreach with organic social activation to inspire citizens to ‘take The JUMP’ wherever they live. By connecting JUMPers online and broadcasting their journeys and stories, we will debunk consumerist narratives, replacing them with 21st century stories centred on people and planet.
Local Projects
Working with real communities in real places Where local residents, community groups, businesses and institutions come together to take the JUMP and create places that look and feel like the future. If you’re a community that would like to get involved check out this page.

WHO?
The JUMP is for anyone looking for impactful, constructive, and practical action they can take in our own lives.
The JUMP is for the growing number of people around the world who are worried about ecological collapse, who want to act but feel powerless or confused about what they can do.
The JUMP will be a space for EVERYONE; no matter heritage, gender, sexuality, lived experience, location, or political leanings. To achieve this The JUMP has established partnerships with Black Lives Matter, Anti-Oppression Circle and Black Allies Network, who are being worked with to ensure local BIPOC community engagement from the start across all activities.
WHEN?
Starting NOW, The JUMP is designed to take big, catalytic steps to a shift in mindsets and cultures across high consuming countries, by 2030.
Achieved through three sequential outcomes, each being measured from the outset. Each with greater impact than the last, but also taking greater time to mature:
A NEW DIRECTION: At this unique moment, mainstream audiences see a change in awareness as confusion and fads are replaced with the clarity of the 6 Shifts, and many make the decision to shift behaviour and ‘take The JUMP’.
TRANSFORMATION AND SCALE: Emergence of a connected, visible & multinational movement of citizens, who are supported to undergo real, positive and joyful transformation. Creating scaled and attractive examples of low consumption, sustainable future.
PARADIGM SHIFT: Over time this positive example builds momentum beyond those taking the JUMP, catalysing real cultural and mindset shift to post-consumerist world.
